Roadworks - Torthorwald to Dumfries
Major roadworks are currently taking place on the A709 between Torthorwald and Dumfries. The work is scheduled to finish at 5pm on Monday 23 October.
A road closure is in place between the C7 Catherinefield Road/A709 Roundabout and the layby south west of the C8 Low Road junction.
Signs have been installed to inform road users and cater for businesses affected by this closure.
This work includes the use of an innovative new product called MacRebur which incorporates recycled plastic pellets into asphalt for a greener and stronger surface. We are trialing the product at various locations across the region.
Diversions are in place during the closure:
- The main diversion for HGVs and other traffic will be from Lockerbie via the A709, B7076, A701, A75 and vice versa.
- A local diversion will also be in place at Lochmaben via B7020, A701 and A75 and vice versa.
Service 81/381 (Lockerbie - Lochmaben - Dumfries)
This bus service is following a diverted route during the resurfacing work. There are no changes to the advertised times but buses coming from Lockerbie will turn off the A709 for Collin along the Roucan Road and all the way to the A75, follow the bypass to Tarff Valley and then back on to the A709. Buses coming from Dumfries will take the reverse route.
